Geoquest France contributed to the construction of the Corridor Vc highway, between Počitelj and Zvirovići in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The project, consisted of building 11 km of highway from Pocitlj interchange up to the Počitelj bridge, connecting both banks of the Neretva River. The aims of the Corridor Vc is to enhance connectivity while improving travel times, road safety, and economic relations, creating a direct highway link between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia.

Geoquest France carried out the design, supply and technical assistance. Our partner Termo-Beton managed the prefabrication and installation of 2,400 m² Reinforced Earth® walls with GeoStrap® geosynthetics reinforcements. One of these walls reaches height of 16 meters! Several back walls connected to the bridge were built too.

Geoquest teams worked in close coordination with the contractor CSCEC and its designer IGH engineering, proposing the Reinforced Earth® solution as an alternative to cast in situ walls.

What were the challenges?

  • Complex configuration and access with significant rock excavation
  • A railway line downstream of the structure needed to stay operational during the construction
  • Highly variable geological and geotechnical conditions, requiring extensive investigations to define the foundation conditions for the different structures

We thank our client CSCEC and the owner JP Autoceste FBiH, for their trust.
