On October 29, 2024, the Valencian Community in Spain experienced one of the most devastating natural disasters in its history. The storm, known as DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos – Isolated Depression at High Levels), brought record-breaking rainfall and flooding that submerged the region and left a profound mark on the economic and social fabric.
The disaster caused considerable damage to essential infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways, and public buildings. Authorities have estimated the cost of infrastructure restoration alone at approximately €2.6 billion, with the broader economic impact affecting key sectors like tourism, transport, and agriculture.
Among the various reconstruction efforts, Geoquest España is restoring a critical transport link: the reconstruction of a bridge crossing the Barranco del Gallego river on the A7 roadway. Last month, our factory welcomed project leaders to review production progress and coordinate the next steps on-site.
Our team is leading the design and manufacturing of 1,629 ml of beams, measuring 1.25 m in height and 30.17 m in length. While the initial plan was to install the beams after Easter, ongoing rainfall has delayed installation to the first week of July.
We are proud to be collaborating with PAVASAL S.A., the main contractor on this emergency project, and we are grateful for the trust placed in our team.
Geoquest’s involvement in this project reflects our commitment to helping communities recover with sustainable and durable engineering solutions. More than just a structural fix, this project represents a step forward in reconnecting affected regions and enabling a return to normal life for thousands of residents.
