The Nakkaş – Başakşehir Motorway project is part of a larger infrastructure plan to enhance connectivity in the Northern Marmara region and improve the overall efficiency of Turkey’s motorway network. Once completed, the project will:

  • Shorten travel times between Istanbul and major cities in the Aegean and Central Anatolian regions,
  • Link Anatolia to Europe through a more direct motorway route,
  • Divert heavy traffic away from central Istanbul,
  • Improve road safety and service quality by separating long-distance transit from local traffic,
  • Support industrial development by easing transport for goods and services along the corridor,
  • Facilitate access for residents of growing districts
  • And help reduce economic and environmental costs by lowering fuel consumption, maintenance needs, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Geoquest Türkiye is contributing to the 8th and final section of the Nakkaş motorway, located between Nakkaş and Başakşehir, in the Northern part of Istanbul. This segment includes a main alignment of 24.17 km, along with connection roads and junctions, forming a crucial corridor in the region.

Our teams are proud to contribute to this major project with the design and construction of more than 50,000 m² of Reinforced Earth structures, which include:

  • Tiered walls with heights of up to 27 meters,
  • Bridge approach ramp walls,
  • Retaining walls,
  • And road platform support walls.

This scope is divided into two sections, one covering 27,000 m² and the other 26,000 m² of Reinforced Earth walls, illustrating the scale and technical challenges of the project.  By the end of August, approximately 7,500 m² of the total 50,000 m² Reinforced Earth walls had been completed.

Congratulations to all teams involved in making this landmark project a reality.
