The Irijae Eco Bridge project in South Korea was developed to restore an ecological corridor disrupted by a road development on Irijae Hill. Eco-bridges help restore wildlife corridors while maintaining safe and efficient transport networks.

For this project, the Geoquest business unit of Freyssinet Korea supplied its TechSpan precast concrete arch solution. A customized funicular shape was adopted for the TechSpan arches to optimize material usage and reduce associated CO₂ emissions. The arches were installed on cast-in-place footings. In total, 27 precast arches were installed, while shear connectors were incorporated to accommodate the site’s 9% longitudinal gradient.

TechSpan is a three-hinged precast concrete arch solution, typically consisting of half-arch units meeting at the crown and supported by precast or cast-in-place footings. The system enables fast and predictable installation while requiring only a narrow construction footprint and minimal equipment.

This project was completed in March 2026.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the successful delivery of this project.
