In July 2025, EPD Hub approved the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of our Hydrotex fabric-formed concrete, manufactured by Synthetex in Georgia, USA. This document gathers information on the environmental impact of a product according to international standards. The declaration covers the life cycle analysis for the product from cradle to gate under ISO 21930 and ISO 14025.
What is Hydrotex?
Hydrotex is a fabric-formed concrete mattress system designed for permanent erosion and scour protection. It consists of high-strength polyester (PET) and nylon yarns woven into geotextile forms, which are then filled with fine aggregate concrete either on land or underwater. This system is 100% customizable, easy to install, and offers long-term durability.
Hydrotex is used in a wide range of applications, including:
- Bridge, canal, and river protection: Permanent erosion control for abutments, riverbanks, and linings.
- Scour protection: Prevents soil loss around hydraulic structures and foundations.
- Geomembrane liner systems: Enhances stability and protection in environmental containment.
- Infrastructure resilience: Installed in over 75 million ft² across all seven continents — including Antarctica.
- Environmental remediation: Supports land reclamation and ecological restoration by stabilizing vulnerable soils.
